Happy Valentines x

Just a quick post today to share the card I made for my Man

I decided on a retro vintage feel for the surprise tag card.
I used Tim Holtz 'vintage love' paper from the 'seasonal stack' and his 'love struck' stamp set.

I also used the 'love struck' alteration die, distress ink, 'rock candy' distress stickles and glossy accents.
This is the card flat, I did 2 shots as you can see the sparkle of the distress stickles, and the glossy accents I put over the mini blackboard.

You pull the tag and the message appears, As you can see it's not really visible in all lights.
I embossed with distress powder but it faded into the black background, so a covered the whole thing with 'white fire' treasure gold, and then lightly sanded over the top, allowing you to see the message in certain light.

I'm entering this in The 3 Muses challenge as their theme is 'Red'
I hope each and everyone one of you has a wonderful day,
I'll be back tomorrow with my PaperArtsy Challenge piece.
Till then...

Whooooo You Looking At...

Today i'm sharing my entry for this weeks Pan Pastel Challenge
they have the prompt to 'use a stamped image'
I stamped one of the very cool owls from octopode and coloured him with pan pastels, I then stamped one of the new Tim Holtz scroll banners and mounted my owl on top. For the base I used up an old tag that had some inky spill waste on, I then stencilled over the top with more pan pastels and finished off with a mini alpha saying and a bit of sari ribbon.

On a different note I have just listed a whole bunch of 'CUTE' stamps for sale on ebay, sugar nellie, magnolia etc  to help raise some funds now i'm unemployed so if you like cute or you know someone who does please share the link.. i'll love ya forever xx

12 Tags: March

Ello.. Here I am finally with my Tim tag for March...
All the instruction are on Tim's blog HERE
The only thing I didn't have was the cement looking embossing powder so I used some of Tim's distress embossing powders and that worked pretty well I think.
I'll be back tomorrow with more altered goodness.
Till then...Stay Inky

On Form Again!

Dress form that is..
Yep i finally got some direction for this project that had been sat on my desk since wednesday.
Hels over @ Sunday Stamper picked 'Brown' as the theme for this week so i set to work adding lots more brown elements.
I had already cut the denim form and added a brown birdcage skirt.
I had also covered a shadowbox with old dress pattern papers that became browner with the more layers that i added.
So next i set to work stamping some elements for the inside.
I used Tim's new haberdashery stamps, and coloured with distress inks and copic markers.
I made a makeshift cotton reel, and stuck a couple of fancy maya road pins in for a nice extra effect.
I also diecut some tattered florals in denim and lace and attached them together with a buttons and thread.
The lace was pink but i grunged it up with some brown ink.
{What a muppet i am, I've only just realized I totally forgot but the initial idea and theme for this piece was actually prompted by challenge 21 'Denim & Lace' over @ Let's get Shabby, but it's ok, I remembered just in time as there cut off date is the 20th phewww!}
And there you have it... So does anyone else have this die and love it as much as i do...
How are you using yours???
..............
I'll be back in the week with my Alter It Monthly challenge piece,
I have my pro op assessment for my knee tomorrow.. Will finally find out when i get the dreaded but also hopefully helpful operation!!! Can't quite believe i've been off work over 6 months, and even more so that i've been stuck indoors for the best part of that time.
 so wish me luck!
Until then Stay Inky

'Pushing up Daisies'

I'm not that big on halloween but i just couldn't resist a couple of the new Tim Holtz sets.
So i was playing about with some grunge left over from mondays compendium challenge and this is what i came up with for todays Theme Thursday 'Halloween' challenge
Yep its a tag.. i seem to have become quite attached to tags since working with tims manilla ones, if you haven't tried then i urge you to give them a go {available from the artistic stamper}, they work especially well with distress inks. Saying that i actually used 'stone grey' paper-soft color by viva for this one, which also works great may i add.
I stamped an array of spooky edges to the tag in black and then used my versamark ink and some white embossing powder to create the skeleton
I inked 2 of the tattered floral grunge flowers with fire brick and peeled paint distress and then stamped {with black archival} body parts over the petals, finishing with the head which i stamped first and then inked round the edge just so it popped more.
I think the piece almost has a 'day of the dead' feel to it..defo not my usual style but its kinda cool!
Happy Creating...
And be brave with your art, You never know till you try something wether it will work or not!

Better late than never!

So i was having a nice play day and suddenly realised i hadn't joined in with the Sunday Stamper challenge this week.. you had to use 'Gold' somethere on your project... Luck would have it as i had just coloured one of my new alteration bird cages that very colour.. so i set to making a tag and here's how it turned out...
Unfortunatly you cant see it very well in the photo but i achieved a really cool effect down one side by stamping funky flames in memento desert sand ink over a brushed corduroy distress ink base.
I'll have to try it again as i really like the effect.
Other things used were a timmy ticket, timmy papers and....oh....timmy stamps lol
Gotta love That guy x

Arty Girlz challenge #39

While blog hopping..... as you do..... i came across the Arty Girlz Challenge blog.
I notice the weekly challenge is set on a Tuesday, and yes, it is now Saturday, but hay, inspiration struck and i couldn't resist.

This weeks prompt is ~ HINT OF PINK ~

And although mine is a tad more than a hint I'm hoping it will count lol

This is a 4" x 4" mini canvas.

I started by colouring the canvas with Broken China distress ink, next (and a first for me) i finally tried some of my Stampboard (which i have had sat longing to be used, since my visit to ally pally in April lol) , i chose 3 of the oblong pieces as they just fitted the Mona (Stampers Anonymous) stamp perfectly.

I pushed all 3 of the SB pieces together before stamping Mona with a Carnation archival ink pad, i then used my Copic pens to add to the colouring of her face and hair, and scraped away pieces in these same places to define further. To finish i also added a tiny ickle pearly bead necklace and a crown punch (which was cut from mirri card and textured using the Tim Holtz hammer thingy!)

Now that the canvas was dry i stamped a flourish (Stampers Anonymous) down one side in just a black ink, it didn't stamp very well (my own fault as still haven't got all the strength back in my hand yet lol) so i decided to improvise... Using silicone glue i stuck the 3 pieces of SB Mona down the opposite side leaving a tiny gap between each piece, and then set to work with the amending of the flourish, i used a purple sakura pen first to go over the fluffed attempt of stamping, and then highlighted most of it again with a Starry Night stickles.

I am so happy with the way the whole thing finally ended up, i didn't think i was gonna pull it off but all was right in the end.
