Outta the Blu!

Good day fellow crafter's, I hope you all had a crafty weekend.
I sure did making my entry for the Brand Spanking New monthly Indigo Blu Challenge.
And when you see the prize that's on offer you'll wanna play along too.
The first theme as you might expect is BLUE.
And here is my offering:
I decided to work with the 'Wreathed in Smiles' set

{which you can see is a christmas set} as I had won it from my local craft store {Craftasmic} over the christmas period but not had chance to use it. It just shows how versatile the stamps are.
***
I started by stamping the swirl in the 4 corners, I then stamped the wreath onto a nesties 'labels 22' die-cut.
I layered another nesties 'floral oval' over the top making it look like I used a background stamp.
I made a bow from seam binding, flattened it out as best I could and used the bow stamp on top, I wasn't sure it was gonna work but it came out really good.
I stamped and fussy cut 2 ferns and layered up the card adding a red heart, metal embossed & inked butterfly, mini roses and some lace.
***
I hope you like my offering, I'll have my fingers, toes and everything else crossed come the 21st of next month lol.
***
Right I must dash, It's my week over on the Snazzy's DT blog and my posts won't write themselves lol
here is a wee peek at my first project which is up already HERE.

Inspired By:

Hay super people..
So the blogging has been a bit sparse this week, BUT I have been very busy creating, mainly DT projects for next week that I obviously can't share just yet. And a few other projects that I just haven't gotten around to  photographing yet!
I did however make and photograph my entry for this weeks PaperArtsy Challenge.
The lovely Linda Cain is back and showcasing some very cool projects.
The main inspiration for my piece was Linda's 2nd project, I loved the metal edging and harlequin background, as well as the layered images.
.....
I used one of my 007 Lynne Perrella images layered up on another from set 005 and tinted with distress ink.
I actually stencilled with some gesso and texture paste, then when it was dry I coated the whole piece with 'irish cream' fresco.
I blackened the embossed copper tape with 'little black dress' fresco, rubbing a little over the raised harlequins.
I used some Crafty Emblies cogs that I stamped with images from the 'clocks #3' ink & the dog plate, I also used the phrase from the same set stamped on some Tim Holtz paper.
*****
So thank you Linda for the inspiration.. I look forward to next week and another fab designer to inspire me!

Last Minute Entry!

This morning I was tidying up my desk and came across all the bits I didn't use on my PaperArtsy challenge 'Crunchy' sampler card from yesterday.

So I chucked um all together to make this tag, rather than throw them away and figured I could get a cheeky last entry in for the challenge!!

Thank 'Crunchy' it's Friday! Inspired By:

It's time again to share the piece I made for this weeks PaperArtsy challenge after being inspired by all the fun uses Helen Chilton came up with for PA's 'crunchy' wax paper.
I've had a pack of unloved 'crunchy' for about 6 months + with no clue as to how to use it..
But not any more... Thanks to Helen x
I tried most of the techniques {minus the ironing} and made a little sampler card.
I just received the Lynne Parrella 007 stamp plate, which was a prize win {YEP you can win stamp'age peoples, so why not be inspired and join in too.} I had to get the main image from the new plate onto the card as I just adore her, {the original image I did have ready got the boot lol} She was coloured with watered down fresco paints.  I also used one of the feathers from the new plate too. Other stamps used were: Eclectic #6 & Wings #1.

So now I know how to use my crunchy, hopefully it won't be unloved any more!
Thanks for stopping by..
Till next time..

Happy Valentines x

Just a quick post today to share the card I made for my Man

I decided on a retro vintage feel for the surprise tag card.
I used Tim Holtz 'vintage love' paper from the 'seasonal stack' and his 'love struck' stamp set.

I also used the 'love struck' alteration die, distress ink, 'rock candy' distress stickles and glossy accents.
This is the card flat, I did 2 shots as you can see the sparkle of the distress stickles, and the glossy accents I put over the mini blackboard.

You pull the tag and the message appears, As you can see it's not really visible in all lights.
I embossed with distress powder but it faded into the black background, so a covered the whole thing with 'white fire' treasure gold, and then lightly sanded over the top, allowing you to see the message in certain light.

I'm entering this in The 3 Muses challenge as their theme is 'Red'
I hope each and everyone one of you has a wonderful day,
I'll be back tomorrow with my PaperArtsy Challenge piece.
Till then...

Simon Says Messy

Over at Simon Says Stamp'n'Show their theme as you may have guessed is 'something messy'.
And there is nothing messier than Gelli plate art
I liked one of the sheets I did so much I attached into my journal and added some inky stamping

I used one of Dina Wakely's stamps as my focus with some double stamping of some 'invoke art' words
Simple but effect, as I didn't want to cover up the cool background.
Thanks for stopping by x

Evening folks x
I finally managed to tackle my piece this evening for the PaperArtsy challenge.
As soon as I saw the colour choice of Michelle's first piece this week I knew I wanted to give it a try, It is a selection I would never of thought to put together but it works beautifully.
Although I didn't have 'butternut' I mixed a bit of 'haystack' and 'zesty zing' together and put it over 'south pacific'.

I embossed a bit of metal card and alcohol inked it, I then added a Wendy Vecchi 'blossom bucket' embellies that I coloured with pitt pens to match the flower I had stamped and coloured on the other side.

I used the words from the JOFY09, and the flower from HotPicks1109.
To finish I used a bit of black enamel accents round the metal piece to frame it.
Hope you like my offering, I'll be back again Monday with more crafty offerings x
Till Then...

Alpha Challenge WK#3

This time round the letter for the Alpha Challenge over @ The Craft Barn is E

I immediately thought of the earth, as I knew the world would take up the double page nicely.
I used my new Derwent Academy watercolour pencils, that I received courtesy of Confused.com as a thank you for the fun Cara I had done on my C page. {how cool is that}
***
Then when I had finished the page I was just flicking through at other E words when I discovered a stamped word I had obviously done, thinking I would use it when E came up, {which I obviously forgot about} But decided to do a little something on that page too and it turned out like this

Just a bit of black pen work but I kinda like it, I might have to re-visit the other letters and do similar pages for them too.
Thanks for visiting, Till next time..

Timmy Tag Catch Up

I had totally forgot about Tim's 12 Tags this year and came across someone's just by chance so on Sunday I set to work catching up.

I had to improvise here and there but I think they're pretty darn close and will look great along side all the others I have hanging on my blind.

All You Need is Love!

Yippee.. Today you get to see some actual artwork... I've not been the best at blogging lately as I have actually been spending my time making stuff.. I know shock horror!!!
So today I wanted to share with you a piece I made for this months
Artistic Stamper Challenge,
It's been a while since i've joined in so when I saw it was 'Hearts & Flowers' the perfect project came to mind.
*****
Remember this:

Well I decided I needed to re-purpose it as it wasn't floating my boat any more so I ripped it apart, jiggled it about and came up with this.

I gave the whole thing a couple of coats of gesso, and then a top coat of 'snowflake' fresco finish paint with a a light rub of 'ruby' & 'white fire' treasured gold to highlight the die-cut texture I had added.

I embellished with a selection of fimo pieces that I had made {mini frames and wing}

Several hearts made from 'hearty clay' {which is a very lightweight fluffy airdry clay} which I painted with 'ruby' treasured gold.

And then I finished with a few pins & trinkets.
The inspiration for this piece was from me old young mate Hels who had a piece in the craft stamper a couple of months ago that was inspired by Finnabair.
But obviously i've given it my own twist.
I hope you have enjoyed the art today,
I'll be back again later this week with more as I have a few journal pages i've not yet shared.
Till then..
