A Snazzy Challenge

Hay there friends
Today see's the launch of the brand new
Snazzy's Challenge
The theme is Love/Romance
And 1 lucky person will win an awesome Prize pack containing some of the goodies the DT have been playing with this month.
Here is what I created:
We had a very cool Darkroom Door word block stamp to work with.
I Started with a plain canvas base, I cut a piece of acetate packaging to the same size as the canvas.
Next I alcohol inked with 'red pepper' & 'pink sherbet' on one side of the acetate, I then stamped the word block on the other in black stazon.
I diecut a sizzix heart and stamped it with the same word block but this time in 'angel pink' memento ink, I
used a 'pink carmine' pitt pen to add some edging to the lettering. I lined up the heart to the background and stuck down. I attached the acetate to the canvas using some fancy brads just pushed into the canvas wood edges.
I diecut 5 Tim Holtz pine cone shapes in a pink colour card, and rolled them into the roses which I topped the canvas with using a hot glue gun.
To finish and make it stand I attached a mini canvas to each side with a tack, I then covered the back of each mini canvas with some paper I had inked and stamped to match in with the main canvas.
The Darkroom Door stamp amongst other things can be ordered from Snazzy's, Just give them a call..
There is a online store in the pipelines hopefully to go live some time in feb.
So... Get your love groove on and get making.. Then get over to the Snazzy's DT blog to share what you've made.
Cant wait to see your entries

It Couldn't Wait...

I was going to share this next tag with you tomorrow but i'll be too late to enter it in the challenge I made it for so i'm blogging it today... {my other tags from today, you can see if you scroll down my blog}.
As well as it being another 'Grungy Monday' Tim crackle piece it's mainly my entry for
The Octopode Factory with their 'somewhere over the rainbow' challenge.
The only regrets I have with this tag is the green section.. which I wish I had thought to do yellow {for the yellow brick road} but it's one of those things that sprang to mind after I had almost finished it, also I wish I had Dorothy to use, but as I don't yet own her I made do with Alice.
But other then that I think it came out ok.. I especially love her ickle ruby red shoes done with stickles, and how her hair came out.
What do you all think?

A Bit of Tag & Crackle!

Well I had the most fun yesterday playing with tags.. something i've not done in ages.
It all started after seeing that Grungy Monday's theme was Tim's crackle resist technique.. so I hopped off to his UTube to refresh my memory and then set to work...
I wasn't 100% on my colour choice but I wanted to be in keeping with the Craft Barn's Colour wheel tag challenge and after picking a red crackle these were the split complementary colours.
The more I worked on the tag the more I was disliking it but I carried on.
I had some little pocket watch brads that were bright gold so I changed up the colour with a copic marker, being alcohol pens they work the same as your alcohol inks would.
***
Not quite satisfied with how tag 1 had come out I decided to make another,

This time with complementary colours on the wheel, and one of my fav combo's.
This one took on a bit of a steampunk twist, with the help of a couture creations embossing folder done on acetate, and plenty of Timmy gears.
If you would like to watch this second tag being made then hop on over to my recording on Ustream.
All in all a fun day's play..{in the end tag 1 grew on me and now I kinda like it}
but it didn't stop here.. I went on to make 3 more tags, 1 of which i'll share tomorrow.
Till then..

2 posts in one day!!!

Yep here I am again with a quick journal page share..
I promised the lovely Françoise {we call her France for short} that I would play along with her 'Journal on Monday' challenge.
And before I started I just happened to see Donna Downey's tweet about 'collage monday'
I loved her page so much I decided to re-create it in my own journal.
It's basically strips of a picture from a magazine jumbled up.
I also added some web tissue tape, a bit of journaling and some paint elements.
I'm really pleased how this came out.
So thank you France and thank you Donna for the inspiration for this page xx

2's Company!

 Hiya Friends
Scrapbooking has always been one of those things that I admired from afar, but was never really brave enough to try myself, {something to do with working on a big size sheet I think} Well that was until just lately, when I decided to just jump on in and give it a try, And i'm finding the more I do them the less scary they become. I've been watching lots of UTube vids, in particular: KatarinaKrumeluran to get inspired.
And challenges help too.
Over on the Pan Pastel UK challenge this week their theme is to use 2 of something..
So with that in mind I set to making this:
I started with a gesso base, then I picked 2 panpastel colours, ultramarine blue and phthalo green {the only blue and green I have} I laid the colour down with the angle slice-flat soft tool starting at the corners and working my way into the centre till the colours met.
I stencilled some gesso through a mask, {pic1}  and sprayed some tibetan poppy teal lindy's spray through another mask {pic2}  the Lindy's has a lovely mica in giving the page a pretty shimmer.
Then I got to adding more set's of 2's.. eg: swirls, dotty papers, tickets, rosettes. As you can see all that's missing is a photo which is sat on the computer waiting for my butt to get ink in the printer.
Everything on this page I pulled out of my scraps draw {with exception of the word paper, that was from my DCWV Timeless pad} just trying to keep up my UIUing like a good girl.
And that's it from me today.
Till next time...

Playing with Portfolio's

Just wanted to share a little tag I made playing with my portfolio's.
I've not really worked that much with water soluble oil pastels before so had no clue what I was doing.. I was literally just playing and this is the result of that play.
I swooshed several colours down on the tag then squirted with some water, I blended it with my fingers. I then ran a red colour round the edge creating a border.
I used the set of paper artsy stamps I received as my sub gift from craft stamper, I stamped the flower with black archival and then layered a bit of colour on top again with the pastels.
For the moth I blended a couple of blues on some pearlescent cardstock, I then stamped the image, cut out and used a pokey tool to etch away some lines in the pastel, giving a bit of definition to the wings.
Not really sure if I like what I made but hay..I had a play and had fun doing it so that's all that matters.
Before I go..
It's my 5th and final share of the month over on the Snazzy's DT today
here's a wee peaky.. why not hop over to see the whole thing, i'd really appreciate it xx
There will be a challenge happening over on the Snazzy's blog at the end of the month so watch out for that, lets just say if you like Darkroom Door, you'll want to play along.

Using It Up...

I've not had alot of time this week what with DT projects for Snazzy's {which BTW there is another project up today HERE} But I have been a good girl and have been using it up..mainly on cards.
I got the sizzix heart die b4 xmas and cut a whole bunch of hearts out straight away..  as I usually get a die and then it sits there for ages before I use it.. {But i'm trying my best to get out of that habit},  anyways I picked a couple of those and painted one in gold and the other was stamped and embossed with a powder I had not tried before..  It's available @ Snazzy's & it's called WOW and the colour I used is Vanilla White..   which I have to say is LUSH..  it comes out a lovely ivory colour...which i've not come across in an embossing powder before. Anywho I digress..   I inked over the whole thing with blue, then the sides with my faithful 'vintage photo' DI and slapped um both down on a base of masked off paint and scrap hessian, the saying was another of the freebie ones from an old mag.
It's pretty simples but I like it.
This is it before
I have also been Using It Up in other ways.. I brought a couple of wooden box pieces a long time ago.. I thought they would make good configuration boxes but when they arrived they were WAY too big so they just sat in my room gathering dust.. Well the other day I whipped um out and changed um up a bit and now I have a new storage for my ink pads!
And this is it now.. It needs a bit more altering to make it look pretty!
Right I must get on.. things to do.. blogs to visit.. art to make.
Till next time..   Stay Inky

Yep you guessed it!!

Another snazzy share..
..but first MY DESK
OMG It's been forever since I did a bit of desk hopping.. Hope Julia and the Gang will have me back!
There isn't that much on my desk to be fair.. The remains of the last few days journalling is all
A quick close up of my pages..The first side was done.. I messed it up something chronic.. so I did the second side to compensate but I hated the mess from the first side so much I had to paint over the whole thing and start again..hence why the dates are back to front!
I also wanted to share a little pendant that I made as a get well/cheer up gift for a friend..
I know she received it so it's safe to blog now.
It's a mixture of cut out elements, utee and some microbeads.

First Play!

...With my new set of Pan Pastels!
My wonderful OH got me a set for valentines.. YES I KNOW it's only January but he said I could have them now, so who am I to complain!!
So anyways..The first PanPastelChallenge has an 'anything goes' theme, so I decided to try my luck at a canvas..
SimonSaysStamp'n'Show has 'anything but a card' as their theme so another plus for the canvas idea..
and finally TheStampManChallenge has a 'Red' theme.
Which seemed fitting as I decided to do a Love inspired piece in honour of my lovely OH
I started with a gesso textured base, I then coloured with a coat of black gesso as the white wasn't doing it for me.
I created 2 dimensional hearts using a die-cut stencil and some 'golden' coarse pumice gel.
Once this was dry I placed the stencil back over the  hearts and coated with a generous helping of permanent red pan pastel.
I also etched a border using the pan pastel and then added some acetate words which I highlighted with pen and also a light scratch to make them pop a bit more.
The canvas still looked a bit flat so I finished it off by stencilling some heart sequin waste with red paint.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the piece but HAY it was a play and you can't always get it right first time.. Practice makes perfect as they say so I best keep practising LOL

Right that it from me today.. Oh no wait..I nearly forgot!! DUR
I have another ickle share over on the  Snazzy's DT blog today.
Here's a peek
get on over there to see the rest of it!
