Guest Spot Revives Mojo!

Hay everyone.
It's been a while since i've had anything to blog about but I was asked by the lovely Louise {you may know her as Zuzu} a few weeks ago to be the Guest Designer over at Calico Crafts for Aug/Sept.
Well I jumped at the chance as since starting my new job i've not really had that much of a mojo so this was the perfect uplift I needed.
After seeing some of the goodies on offer in the Calico online store ideas started buzzing and today i'm sharing a peek of my 1st project.

Blog Neglect!

WOW the time is just whizzing by since I started my training.
I've not really done much in the way of crafting lately, altered or shabby.
I made this card for my other half's birthday at the beginning of the month.

Twas my first pop up box card, and I think I shall be making a few more of these.

I also made a superhero costume that I wore on 'Superhero Saturday' at work in aid of 'Together for Short Lives' which is Hobbycraft's supported charity.

But other than that the crafting has run dry... Hopefully Mr Mojo will be back soon {I think he's just too busy sun worshipping to wanna come inside with me and play!}

WOYWW: The Late Edition

Hay Desk Hoppers.
Sorry i'm so late today, I have been training all day for my new role in a brand new Hobbycraft store opening in about a months time in Yeovil.
I'm so excited not only to be working again.. but to be working in a craft shop!!!
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Anyway I digress
I wanted to still join in today for a couple of reasons.
Firstly to say a big thank you to both Jo & Annie for their beautiful ATC's that arrived today, I love them both, they are GORGEOUS xo

That's them bottom right of the pic. Also on my desk is a little crochet dreamcatcher kit, A die that isn't cutting and has to be sent back and the ATC I said I would give to one comment leaver from the anniversary swap.. As I had Helen below me in the list and she already had one of mine,  I actually have 2 to give away so I popped over to random.org and the lucky winners are.....

AVJ #6 All About Him

I'm sure I don't know where the time is going, It seemed like a day or so ago I was checking the Vintage Journey theme, and low and behold i've just gone back to double check when it closes and i've only got a day left to join in!!
Who is stealing my days!! Come on, own up!
So I grabbed a load of Timmy stash and quickly knocked up this little beauty.

I took the opportunity to get a fathers day card made as i'm sure that will creep up on me if i'm not careful.

I used Tims papers, alpha stamps and dies, I stamped the Dad in versamark and used distress embossing powder, but think I rubbed too hard as alot of the powder came off, so I inked over it, the versamark gave it a sort of grunged up watermark look, so to make it pop I cut the letters out.

1 down, 1 to go..

Right I can't stop as it's my 1st Hobbycraft Induction day tomorrow and I need to get myself ready and get in an early night!!

WOYWW The 5th Anniversary Edition

I've been absent for a little while but have been in and out of the desk hop for the past 5 years so I had to join in today of all days.
My desk looks like this:

All very tidy as I have recently had a sort out and re-shuffle.
On my desk you can see an array of lovely art collected at Saturdays WOYWW Crop

It was my very first time attending, and I had a blast although I regret not getting around to speak to everyone, I was absorbed in trying to make some ATC's to give out!

These are a couple that I had spare, ready for today's swap, 1 will go to the person next on the woyww blog  list and 1 to someone who leaves me a comment today, I will randomly pick someone at the end of the day.

WOYWW Crop

So I was lucky enough to get to spend last Saturday at the WOYWW crop in Wiltshire.
I was a brave girl and drove all by myself {well with the help of mr satnav} It was my very first long journey since passing my test as i'm a bit of a nervous driver but it was all good, even though the weather was total pants I made it in one piece.

This was everyone getting settled in and listening to Julia's welcome speech.

 As you can see, Giggles from the start!

I finally got to meet Zoe who i've know online for ages but never met in person, and she's lovely.

I also got to catch up with Helen

And Diane, both of whom i've meet before, but it's always a pleasure.

There is me deep in concentration {look at that frown}.... making sure I was colouring within the lines lol

It was also lovely to finally meet the lovely Jan, who provided us with a wonderful lunch

And last but not least the wonderful Julia, The reason we were all together. Who knew when it it started just how big and long standing the ritual desk hop would be!

AVJ #4

Over at A Vintage Journey their theme is Spring Flowers

I finally felt inspired to play with some of my new goodies and this is what I made.

I used the Sizzix accordion flip 3D die to create the base, Papers are from the 'wallflower pad' edged with scattered straw DI. I also stamped the white edges of the inner pieces with the floral rosette type stamp from the 'nature walk' set.

The flowers are the smallest from the tattered florals die, cut in 2 colours and layered up with scattered straw distress stickle centres, and a smidge of victorian velvet DI.

The leaves are from the 'spring greenery' strip die and splodged with some mowed lawn DP.

The letters are from the 'block talk alpha' bigz XL die.

The last thing I added {which in hindsight should of been done much earlier} was to add some texture with grunge paste through a mini chicken wire stencil.

And job done, Hope you like.. This will be winging it's way to a special someone soon.

As always there were lots of familiar #PATWIT faces about

Was lovely to catch up with Helen, Gabrielle, Lin, Julie, Jo, Brenda, Astrid, Helen and Lesley, Lin, Leandra and Sam.

I did all my shopping and got almost everything I had on my want list.

I really missed my partner in crime Gillian who couldn't make it this time and Alison who's off sunning herself in Turkey!

For my very nosey readers I've done a utube stash haul vid.

I also got to meet a few of the lovely ladies from the UKIreland SwapGroup i'm part of.

Then it was drinkies after the show with the #PABrigade

SUNDAY
I got to spend a perfect day with 2 of my favourite people Sandy {an AP virgin} and Lily,
along with Sandys entourage of people {her 2 daughters Kimmy & Jojo and hubby Chris}

We all had an awesome time and Sandy only had to go in the naughty corner once lol
I also bumped into Kirsten, Siobhan {forgot to get pics} Brenda and Astrid again along with Jenny M and Jennie B.

All in all it was a super weekend, the weather was amazing as was the company.
I wish every weekend could be so good.

WOYWW 252 {bit early but then so was Julia!!}

Golly Gosh, It has been like forever since I took part in a desk hop, mainly coz i've not had time OR my desk has been a baron wasteland with nothing to see.
But Julia's link popped onto my facebook wall at just the right time to remind me, and there were goodies on my desk so I thought what the hell.

Centre and left there are several doilies, and couple of tiny tea cups, both of which were charity shop bargains and are earmarked for shabby projects, to the right a mould with play-doh.. just experimenting!
Oh and behind the teacups, a little basket stuffed with my new addiction.. crochet flowers, I just taught myself via utube vids and now I can't stop making them!!
I look forward to seeing what's on your desk!

Today i'm just popping in to tell you a couple of things..

Melt Pot Fun

Yesterday I spent a lovely day with my friend Nicky {i know double trouble right!}
We had lunch and then went and enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Hels Sheridan and the Melt pot @ Craftasmic in Taunton.

We played with wax for the first half of class then onto utee for the second, creating a little canvas with both elements.

I also treated myself to some goodies with some birthday money I had from my OH's parents and my friend Nicky.

All in all a super day had by all xo

A Vintage Journey {it inspired me to blog!!!!!}

Yesterday saw the launch of a brand new challenge blog

A Vintage Journey

It's a vintage and shabby chic style Tim Holtz inspired challenge blog run by the ever so wonderful Brenda Brown and supported by a whole host of wonderfully talented gals. You must go check it out.

The first theme as you would imagine was 'Anything Tim' though mine turned into everything Tim lol

I started by making a hidden book stack from envelopes, I then inked um all up with distress, I used papers from the French Industrial pad, along with some of the new ephemera pack pieces to decorate the front. I also used a Tim stamp {from the shabby french set} for the postmark , and some pearl beads for the feet.

I chucked in a few alteration die-cuts and some copper idea-ology bits and bobs.

The inside I keep a little lighter, a bit more shabby, using more of the papers, ephemera and die-cuts, along with some lace, rose ribbon and tag.

I pretty much spent all of yesterday happily making this, I hope you like it too.
{oh and wish me good luck, i've applied for the last DT spot!}
