WOYWW 180: The Scrap Box Edition

Good day fellow desk hoppers, Today I have a very tidy desk
BUT.. I do have a project to share that was inspired by Julia's GIIGU post at the weekend
Something in me looked at her idea and thought I need me one of those.. So I set to making it happen.
I started by evicting a pair of boots from an old gift box I was using as a shoe box,
{rough size is 8" x 12" x 5½"}
I made all the dividers from heavy cardstock, and added the tabs {made using the 3rd largest labels 8 nesties die, folded in half, and rounded off the top corners as they were a bit pointy.
I have everything in colour segments, there are 2 tabs in each. The base colour, then the patterned colour, although my cream section has 3 tabs to accommodate book pages and song sheet paper.
I also have tabs for mixed scraps, christmas scraps and bubble wrap.. then there is a load of random bits needing a home at the back lol
The box was gold to start with but I painted it cream, and wrapped the lid with washi tape, finished with a little pull handle just to make it look pretty.
***
So thank you kindly Julia for the idea.. now I just have to wait and see if it works for me and it stays neater than yours LOL
Right off to hop some desks x

Honestly, you're as bad as me, lurking until the wee hours!!! Heheheheh.

Love your scraps box - well done for taking the idea and following through with it. Me, I just took the idea and then left it someplace else... LOL

Yes, I saw it too... and looking at your gloriously organised box, splendidly washi'd, it looks an even better idea. Now I just have to find the time to do it! Happy WOYWW!

Great idea for a scrap collector. I need to fix up something like that but seems if I use a box the scraps are too big if I use a file holder it is too small of bits. Can't win! Hope you have a great week. Vickie #63

Oh Minxy!! Talk about take an idea and run with it!! THis is the PERFECT solution for me..indeed, I have decided to stop tidying my existing and go get a bigger box to make a combined one..perfect and so like you to go to the trouble of co-ordinating, painting, decorating...rely on me not to do that part! I hope it works for you..as I know it so works for me!!

Why have I never done this? So much better than my rummage box and pile and drawer and plastic bag! Now all I need is a box!

Thank you for the inspiration.
Happy WOYWW,

Hi Minxy You have been busy. I found that when I made my scraps more accessible and organised I did actually use them more and did put them away more too!!!! Great job. Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 30

LOVE this idea! I have so many boxes on the top shelves of my art cupboard and stuff is just chucked in and I can never find anything! I will definitely be doing this! x Laura #116

Now that's a clever idea! Let us know how it works for you. I keep my scraps in 5"x6" cellaphane bags in a shoe box sorted by colors. I like your's and Julia's idea too. Happy WOYWW! Nan 103

I feel a WOYWW scraps box sub culture thing going on here...it could almost be like a side show for all those who were inspired by her post...Love how you have done yours. I just gave all my scraps to the girl across the road from me who has Autisim and needs to keep busy, now I don't need my filing system any more as I was already doing this...

Love your scraps box ... I was impressed with Julia's method of scrap storage too, thought it a great idea, but, unlike you, have done absolutely zilch about it ... yet! Have a great weekend, hopefully with plenty of crafting time factored in, Elizabeth x #43
