Lots To Do !!!

WOW, there goes another week.. and so much for it being a holiday! I've have Lots to Do myself... but i managed to squeeze in making this ickle piece for this weeks 'Canvas' challenge!
As you can see i've gone for the shabby chic look, just having a play around really, the pretty lace at the bottom is actually from the arm of a top that i just cut a strip from!
This also fits in with
Sophisticat Challenges - Embossing {i embossed the white swirl on the sheet music and also the text is embossed}
The Secret Crafter - Stitching {i've gathered and stitched the lace at the bottom}
Crazy 4 Challenges - It's all about Texture
Creative Inspirations -Monocrome

Yesterday i had the bestest day at a friends house playing with my melt pot, a craft sheet and lots of Timmy stamps... trust me there is no better way to spend a day.. other than with Tim himself of course but i know that ain't never gonna happen!  Oh just a little note though.. never try and melt fine embossing powder in your pot, it just does the strangest thing.. or at least it did in mine.. it melted but only slightly and then was like a stiff honey that i had to spatular out.. i didn't waste it though and i'll have photographic evidence up when its finished lol.. well waste not want not.. i also saved the canvas board i smeared it on from my mates bin.. hay just doing my bit for the enviroment lol

Don't forget to come back on monday to find out the winner of the lovely Laaaaaaady stamps :)

Assembeled together with some lace, folded card steps and some old book page wording.. and she's fit for the party.

Shabby Chic....

....and oh so pretty!
Morning peeps, The birds are tweeting and the sun is out and i'm not working woo hoo.
Perfect excuse to have a play and enter this weeks Lots To Do challenge
This week they want you to 'Use a Machine'
After being totally inspired by some of the wonderful blogs i visited on the OWOH Magic carpet i fell in love with all the gorgeous shabby chic fabric samplers i had seen and just had to try it out for myself.
My efforts were a little more reserved though, as i'm not totally comfortable with fabric working yet, so figured i'd start slow and i used a canvas as my base.
If you've not guessed by now, the 'machine' i used was my Sewing Machine, this is also something i'm not quite comfortable using lol but the piece came out ok in the end.
I used a small collection of fabrics and a lrg lace doillie, I frayed the edges on one piece of fabric and that gave me the loose fibres that created the birds nest.
I used the beautiful 'Lotus' stamp from Stampington & Company onto some glossy cardstock.
I used my machine to sew several of the layers together, and to also give a nice finishing detail.
 I stamped several outline hearts from the Roses are Red plate by The Artistic Stamper onto some old book pages and cut out and distressed um a bit with vintage photo then it was just a case of adding a few buttons and feathers and voila. Jobs a goodun.
Definatly not my usual style but i kinda like it and can see more being attempted!
This piece also fits in with a few other challenges
Thanks for dropping by, I'm off now to lose myself in ink, Ta Ra

GC #43 An ickle mix-up.....

It's wednesday and that can mean only one thing... Gingersnap Creations has a new theme, and there still being sponsered by the fab Artistic Stamper
This week is a Colour Challenge: Anything but Pink & Red
EDIT
{OK so i just hopped on over to the gingersnaps blog to see everyones creations to find that the challenge posted is not 'Anything but Pink and Red' but is in fact 'Your 3 Fav Colours'... Oopsie i guess a few wires got tangled along the way... Luckly my piece has 2 out of my 3 fav colours on which are Cream and Brown}
I decided upon a mini canvas for this one...
I gave the base a coating of vintage photo distress ink, I  then stamped one of the dashing young 20's ladies from Twenties plate 1 in versamark embossing ink and dusted it over with some gold mica powder paint {which you can use as powder or mix with water to form a paint}
I fixed this with a little spritz of hairspray. Next i distressed up the edges with a smidge of Terra {sahara colour} and stamped some hearts and the word love from the Roses are Red plate with a brown versacolour ink.
 I know i had some heart sequins so after a bit of a rummaging i came across the rather cool speckled acetate ones which i fixed to the side by sliceing into the canvas with my craft knife and the adding a tiny bit of glossy accents to hold firmly.
I had a little metal pot lid which i turned into the main embellishment. I stamped out the same 20's lady and coloured her with copics, i cut her out and placed her onto some old book paper, i then cut out a circle including the main face and arms of the lady, i placed this into the lid and crimped the edges closed behind to encapsulate her behind the glass top. I then lined her up with the image i had stamped on the canvas and stuck her in place. The last touch was a bit of printed twill ribbon.
This piece actually has a little secret that i only found out about the other day... I turned out the lights only to notice that all the sequin hearts glow in the dark lol
 Don't forget to check out all the fab work by the other Design Team members of both the gingersnap team and the artistic stamper crew.
 As there next challenge will be very close to the Gingersnaps blog birthday i'll be offering a little candy of my own.
So don't miss out xx See ya next week if not b4 xx

x Happy Valentines Day x {SS#91 & LTD #6}

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Firstly i would like to say to my Tiger Tony, I love you tons and am so glad you are a part of my life, and i wish you a very happy valentines day..
Also thank you for the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and gorgous hand made card xxx xYou truely are my Angel
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Right thats the mushy stuff out the way.. on to my creation.
I've been dabbling in jewellery making for a little while, but being me i do like to mix it up a bit and have been finding ways to bring a more creative and unusual twist on things.
I must admit i have a ton of fab altered art {north light} books and just lately i have been going through them grabbing ideas left right and center.
I've also been at the felt again, and this is the main focal point of this piece.
I made the heart out a fab blood red colour marino wool top, I cut a heart shape out of a sheet of normal felt and then felted the marino wool, building it up with a single hand felting needle till i got just the right size and shape i required. I then wrapped the heart in a mini barbed wire {created by myself with the inspiration from a talented artist by the name of Ange}, because love hurts sometimes.
The rest of the necklace is a collection of old buttons and silver charms strung together with handmade wire jump rings
I used a double ribbon at the end to attach my clasp so it was soft around the neck when wearing.
I think the hardest part was the felt heart but once that was complete the rest kind fell into place and it turned out smashing.
This piece fits in perfect with this weeks Sunday Stamper Challenge {yay Hels i finally joined in} with the theme 'All you need is LOVE'
And  Lots To Do has 'Love is in the air' as there challenge too.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll be back tomorrow with the winners of my OWOH giveaways and on wednesday with another Gingersnaps challenge piece!
Sending out big love to all of blogland, have a very
 Happy Valentines Day

I was framed i tell you!

I was having a bit of a clear out the other day and came across some old mini gold frames belonging to my OH, he didn't want them and i was going to put them in the charity shop when all of a sudden creativity took over and this was created
It could of had something to do with the fact that i stumbled upon an awsome tutorial by the extreamly talented Lin of L.B Crafts.
I actually never dreamed i could create anything quite as good but i gave it a go and boy am i happy with how my piece turned out, sorry to blow my own trumpet but hay I just LOVE it!
Lin's instructions were super, and even though i didn't have all the ingredients {i traded ferro for golden pumice gel and percious metal for liquid acrylic} It still worked ok..
So i had created my mini masterpiece and decided to finish it the only way i know how...MINXY STYLE... With the help of an old leather belt, a mini glass bottle & old paper, and a metal winged- friendly plastic creation {using a paper artsy stamp} it was complete.
Thank you so much Lin.. You inspire me to new heights. I so need to start saving for an artsycraft weekend!!!

Don't forget to enter my OWOH giveaway, cut off is Midnight saturday GMT x

GC42: Lace is Ace!

Surely it can't be a whole week since i posted, where on earth did that go.. oh well that must mean it's time for another Gingersnaps Challenge:
I am again glad to be flying the Creative Team  flag for The Artistic Stamper
Its a Spicy Supply week and you have to use - Lace / Fibers
Well me being me i immediatly thought outside the box and decided that the lace i would use would be my main focal point and i created a cuff bracelet with it.
I threaded some wire along the top and down the 2 shortest edges to create a stiff bangle structure, leaving the bottom free flowing. I entertwined some fibres along the top to hide the wire frame, and then I hand sowed some brown material to each side to edge and cover the wire and give it a nice finish.

To create my focal point I got 2 squares of grungepaper, measuring that the points in the shape of a diamond would not overhang the width of the lace.
I stamped one of the super 20's hatted ladies by Artistic Stamper, in desert sand memento ink to one of the squares, added some colour with my copics and then added some faint outlines with a very thin black pen.
I edged the other piece of grungepaper with 2 sorts of bobble ribbon, and then sandwiched the two together hiding all the glue and what not. I used an invisible cotton to stitch round the edge at the same time attaching it to the lace cuff.
I finished by stamping 2 hearts on shrink plastic, and then stamping the open sequin waste stamp on top,  I made a hole b4 shrinking to attach a jump ring to, I then cut out the heart shapes and heated, once cool i attached the rings to the hearts and then to the cuff.
And thats it really. Thanks for another great Challenge Gingersnappers.. Dont forget to check out the rest of the talented Creative Teams work.
Come back soon for more of this and that from me soon

GC41: Pinning my hope on Love!

Well wouldn't you know it, 2 altered pieces in the same week, looks like i found my AA mojo again.
Partly due to the new challenge over at Gingersnap Creations
This week its a Chestnut Challenge and the Theme is Romance
I decided to altered a domino
Jennie over @ The Artistic Stamper has just realised some fab new love stamps just in time for valentines so i snapped up a set and got stamping.
Firstly i used the word Love from the Roses are Red plate.
I then masked it and coloured the domino with alcohol inks
Leaving the mask still in place i stamped over the whole thing with the poem stamp, again from the roses are red plate.
I peeled off the mask and voila.
I had pre made a hole in the domino which i threaded some wire through and attached a mini lock and key charm to, and then to finish i added a backer turning it into a brooch.
Jennie @ The Artistic Stamper are sponsoring the challenges this month over at Gingersnaps so there is chances to win the stamps i've used, go check it out for more details
And dont forget to check out all the other fab artwork by the very talented team :)

Bit of Altered This & That...

I've been trying really hard of late to get back into my altered art projects, i came over all cute for a while {well i still am to be honest} but it's trying to find time to do a bit of both seeing as i really do enjoy both styles.
However these past few weeks the art has been flowing... totally messy and inky and lots of fun...
And i start you off with this ickle 4"x4" canvas.
I've used a fair selection of this and that on this piece, I started by coating the base in Terra to give it texture, Once that was dry i added a mix of ranger gold dabber and some liquid acrylic in copper and green {both pearlescent}
I topped the finished canvas with a number of small tiles that were made from a few different things..
Stampboard covered in gold UTEE,
TH Fragments which i stamped images onto {stamps by The Artistic Stamper}
Old game pieces using the back side of them to create little frames, and i filled each with some paper scrap and finished with the word ART in metal that i embossed from a stamp {again Artistic Stamper}
You will find it is possibable to get rubbings in metal from any stamp, you just need to do it gentaly with a paper stump and then define it afterwards.
The other little 'bits' like the string knot etc were odds from my stash
I finished the canvas by attaching a paper clip to the top so it can be hung.
I'm quite please how this turned out.
Pop back soon for more of what i've been up to.. fabruary is going to be a good altering month for me i can tell :p
