Mojo a No Show!

It appears that my mojo has buggered off on a crafty retreat and forgot to tell me, So I'm sat here staring into space with no inspiration or inclination to make a thing, its sooooooo depressing.
To pass some time i thought i'd share a quick card that i made some weeks back and just hadn't got round to blogging..
It's just simple stamp and ink affair
I'm praying my mojo will return soon as i'm now signed off work for 2 weeks with my {useless, good for nothing} knee and i really wanna put the free time to good use. If you happen to see it out there please send it home, i miss it terribly.

What's wrong with me!!!

I still haven't managed to create a masterpiece inspired by Lord Tim of Holtz.. I must be coming down with a fever or something, as Tim always inspires me.. But not to fear, I'm sure something will transpire, I'm having a crafty day with a friend today so that might do the trick!

So until then why not hop on over to The Artistic Stamper Team Blog where you could win on of my delightful ATCs.
Go on you know you wanna!

Got my beady eye on you!

Just lately i have had alot of time for my beads and charms, so much so i started to get achy hands from gripping the pliers lol
So when i saw this weeks 'Buttons or Beads' challenge over at Lots To Do I figured it be the perfect time to share a piece or 2!
This was a commissioned bracelet for a girls 13th birthday. I was so thrilled when i heard that she loved it and was showing it off to all her friends, can't get a better feelin than that.
And this is just a snippet of several others that were created.. Beads a plenty me thinks!
Huummmm maybe i'll add some buttons to the next one!

A Little Bird

Now i don't know how you craft but for me i'm very much a chop and change kinda gal, One minute i'll be playing with paper, the next, the bling is out and i'm making jewelry... I find if i mix it up i never get bored or stuck in a creative rut. So why am i rambling on, well coz it's been all change here again, This week i decided it was time for canvas.. not done one in ages and really just wanted to get messy so out came the inks, paints and stamps and this is what transpired.
Oh and this is also my entry for
Mixed Media Monday 'Embellish It'
I just love the stunning colour of the feather as it catches the light

I do love the bird and his cage but find it hard to place him in it, hence the broken bars

As good as the real thing... I think so, This is one of the friendly plastic pieces i created from a mold i took from one of Tim's book plates

And there you have it...
Materials used:
  • Tim Holtz and Artistic Stamper stamps
  • viva copper croco, copper leaf sheets
  • distress ink- vintage photo, tumbled glass & peeled paint
  • alterations - regal crest and caged bird
  • grungeboard, cardboard, friendly plastic

Stickley Bug

While I'm off work resting my knee i decided to use the time to play along and combine 2 of my favourite challenges,
Compendium of Curiosities 'Distress Stickles' Instructions on Pg 46
and Sunday Stamper 'Jars/Bottles'
I've had this idea in my head for ages but just never had a suitable stamp till now.
I know its probably been done loads of times b4 but i just couldn't resist.
I tried to capture the sparkle of the jar {by artistic stamper} so this is 2 shots, one with, one without the flash,
it's amazing the colour difference really {the true colour is more like the top one}.
I had coated the jar in a mix of glossy and crackle accents, then smeared some faded jean stickles over the top for good measure.

Really making the most of the dymo lately too which provided the sentiment.
Oh and the wire background is also by artistic stamper
Thank you once again Linda for challenging me to use my neglected timmy stash, it's always a pleasure.
..............
Thanks for visiting and don't forget to hop back tomorrow to see my newest ASCT piece.

SDC13: Wings, Wings, Wings

I decided it was about time i joined in with the Stampotique Designers Challenge
I've been meaning to take part for weeks now but just never got around to it, till now that is.
The ever so talented Effie posted about a slight alteration she made to the Timmy bird cage and i thought it looked so cool I just had to try it out.
I've used 'girl with heart purse' who i coloured with copics, added padded silver wings too and then placed next to her altered cage home.
The blue flowers are grungepaper and if your heading off to Stevenage today for Stamperama, head on over to The Artistic Stamper stand where the lovely Hels will be doing make and takes {of these very flowers i believe} Sadly i'll be hard at work while you're all enjoying the stash frenzy, I am of course willing to except any gifts you feel you need to buy me in lou of me being able to attend rolf.. well a gal can try can't she! But seriously I do hope anyone going has a fabby day.
Anyways back to the tag which I finished using my trusty dymo for the words.
And thats your lot.
Oh look i totally forgot...Durrrr... The background was a dusty concord/perfect pearl spritz mix, sprayed onto a kitchen towel and then dabbed all over the tag, a lace border stamped down one side in broken china.
Righty that really is your lot now..

Sweet & Simple

You know those times when you just need a batch of cards, like thank you's but your soooo not in card making mode coz your mojo has mooched off on holiday and left you in the lurch..
Well these were made in exactly those circumstances.. So i kept it simple.
I reached for my Tim Holtz stamps, picked out 1 image, stamped it onto gloss card with archival, or was it stazon!!! anyways, i then used my vintage photo distress ink to colour the images, just kinda smooching it on with an ink tool, A smidge of black round the edge, a sentiment and bobs your uncle fannys yours aunt, one {or several} simple yet adorable thank yous.

{Oh by the way.. if your thinking hay this isn't minxy's desk... yes it is.. if you missed it, last week was the big room reveal
Amongst the mess you can see my brand new dymo label maker, my other one has given up the ghost so i treated myself, and it was a bargain on e'bay {isn't everything lol}
Another thing you may spy is an ATC.. here is a better view..
Been playing with some of the new Artistic Stamper rubber and boy are they deeeelish...
Right.. Keeping it short and sweet today as i'm going to make a real effort to make it to everyone today..

I'm Crackin Up!

No i don't mean literally although some would disagree! I am of course talking Compendium Of Curiosities with it being page 42's 'Distress Crackle' this week.
After seeing Hels doing an ATC i realized it had been an age since i had made and swapped one, So Hels if your up for it.. I'll swap an ATC with ya!
And here it is...
I used an atc piece of timmy paper from the vintage shabby pad, the sheet music one not that you can see it very well after its coat of rock candy crackle. I die cut all the shapes with timmy dies from grungeboard. And cut the wording from old book pages.
This is also my entry for this weeks Sunday Stamper 'Music' challenge

2 posts in one day!!!

It's practically unheard of for me but I have been happily playing with paper and ink all afternoon so decided I would join in a couple of challenges, the following piece fits both the Lots To Do 'Ribbon/Lace' theme and the Alter It Monthly 'Musical' theme.
The base is mountboard, with 2 grungeboard hearts placed on top and then the whole thing covered in gel medium, draped with a slightly damp old music sheet {a few spritz from your mini mister should do the trick}, work the paper in around the hearts to define them taking care not to tare, use a smidge of gel medium on top to seal. Let the whole thing dry, and once hard then its time to ink.
I used barn door or was it fire brick.. anyways.. round the edge of the base, avoiding the hearts, and coloured the hearts themselves with a creamy brown chalk ink. I edged the heart and the whole piece with a gold marker. Stapled some frilly cream lace to the bottom, creating a thought ribbon from the left over bit i had and adding a heart brad to finish it. I then i found a fab quote which i typed out on my label maker and added to complete the little hanging piece.

'Pushing up Daisies'

I'm not that big on halloween but i just couldn't resist a couple of the new Tim Holtz sets.
So i was playing about with some grunge left over from mondays compendium challenge and this is what i came up with for todays Theme Thursday 'Halloween' challenge
Yep its a tag.. i seem to have become quite attached to tags since working with tims manilla ones, if you haven't tried then i urge you to give them a go {available from the artistic stamper}, they work especially well with distress inks. Saying that i actually used 'stone grey' paper-soft color by viva for this one, which also works great may i add.
I stamped an array of spooky edges to the tag in black and then used my versamark ink and some white embossing powder to create the skeleton
I inked 2 of the tattered floral grunge flowers with fire brick and peeled paint distress and then stamped {with black archival} body parts over the petals, finishing with the head which i stamped first and then inked round the edge just so it popped more.
I think the piece almost has a 'day of the dead' feel to it..defo not my usual style but its kinda cool!
Happy Creating...
And be brave with your art, You never know till you try something wether it will work or not!

WOYWW 61*The Big Reveal*{photo heavy}

Hay Julia and the rest of the WOYWW crew, I'm just off to bed as i've just finished a night shift so if one of my lovely visiters could linky me up please, that would be grand.
Well here it is.. the grand tour of my newly re-vamped craft studio {you'll have to excuse my muddled words at the start, and my slightly naff camera shooting, this is my first real use of the video part of my camera}

Well there you have it... Maybe not quite as grand as some may of imagined but i love it.
There are still tweeks that need to happen, like proper ikea baskets to fit in some of the cubbie holes of the bookcase, and the wall that surrounds the comp will eventually have shelves/a unit there.
But for now i am like a piggy in poo, Hope you enjoyed viewing as much as i love creating in it!
Here are few snaps in case you missed it through my waffling...
{click each pic to enlarge}
Sorry i only made it round to about 1/2 of you last week, i ran out of time..
Here's hoping i manage a few more this week.
Thanks for visiting, Happy WOYWW
